Northern Beaches

Words by Stacey Carrick

In Far North Queensland, we are incredibly lucky to have an array of stunning beaches on our doorstep.

The beaches that make up the Marlin Coast include Machans, Holloways, Yorkeys, Trinity, Kewarra, Clifton, Palm Cove and Ellis Beach.

Each beach has its own unique character, whether you’re after family-friendly, kite-surfing or relaxation.

Our Northern Beaches are postcard perfect, with their beautiful coastlines and swaying palm trees just north of Cairns and a short drive to Port Douglas, making them accessible to both the reef and the rainforest.

The beaches are where you will find all the elements for a tropical getaway, complete with a backdrop of rainforest mountains.

These beaches are popular with both locals and tourists alike – locals love to get away to the beaches to relax on the beautiful sand with a view of the ocean, or perhaps to enjoy delicious cuisine from one of the many and varied restaurants.

The beaches also offer a wide range of accommodation for tourists, including hotels and resorts. What an ideal location for a holiday, with beaches, cafes and restaurants, or perhaps a spot of
pampering at one of the nearby day spas.

With all this in mind, welcome to our Northern Beaches feature, which includes Amaroo at Trinity Beach, Annie’s at the Beach, Beach Catwalk, Palm Cove Retreat Day Spa, Wild Yeast FNQ and espresso & co. You will even find stunning pictures of The Boutique Collection.
If you are dreaming of the ultimate relaxing holiday, then Amaroo Resort is definitely the choice for you.

Amaroo is situated high on the hill at the northern end of Trinity Beach, with all rooms featuring views of Trinity Beach and the Great Barrier Reef.

Next we meet Annie Gillow, the owner of Annie’s at the Beach and Beach Catwalk at Palm Cove. You will find a mix of beautiful clothing and gorgeous swimwear at these boutiques.

Step into the tranquility of Annie’s at the Beach and browse the extensive range of natural fabrics for both men and women – cool cottons, comfortable linens, bamboo, silkwear and beach style clothing, synonymous with the Palm Cove lifestyle.
Beach Catwalk is a celebration of the latest beach and street fashion, stocking an extensive range of brands you will love, including Billabong, Baku, Boom Shankar, Sun Bum, Havaianas and Reefs.

Palm Cove Retreat and Day Spa is the perfect place to relax, unwind and be pampered.

The day spa allows you to indulge in a wide range of luxurious treatments, massages, facials, body exfoliation, body wraps, manicures and pedicures, leaving you feeling relaxed and de-stressed.

We chat to Wild Yeast FNQ owner Chris Schwarz, who proudly operates bakeries in Trinity Beach and Kewarra Beach along with his wife Alicia and other family members and friends.

Chris is passionate about creating tasty treats for the local community.

The Schwarzs moved to Cairns for a lifestyle change and they love the friendly community atmosphere the beaches offer.

Espresso & co at Palm Cove offers a great view with even greater coffee, serving breakfast, lunch and coffee daily. What a fantastic location to indulge as you enjoy a delicious coffee.

The Boutique Collection is based in Cairns, Trinity Beach, Palm Cove and Port Douglas, boasting an eclectic collection of hand-picked accommodation offering resort-style rooms, luxury apartments and private homes.

We hope this Northern Beaches feature inspires you to enjoy the beautiful beaches right on our doorstep.
