Target Reopens

Iconic Australian retailer, Target Australia, is excited to reopen its doors to North Queensland customers this month with the opening of their Cairns store.

Target Australia is proud to reopen its doors to the Cairns community this month. With quality products that customers can touch and feel, the 3400sqm retail space highlights the retailer’s ongoing commitment to inspiring families to live better by making it easy for them to afford quality and style.

Delivering affordable, quality fashion that Australians have come to expect, the store has an increased product offering, seven new fitting rooms and eight assisted checkouts for customer convenience.

Located in the heart of Cairns Central, the largest shopping centre in Far North Queensland, the new Target Cairns store will service both the city and the extensive surrounding communities.

Target Australia Managing Director, Richard Pearson, said the company was thrilled to continue building on their connection and history within the local Cairns community.

“At Target our customers are at the heart of our business, and we want to design, create and curate meaningful quality products and experiences that families can trust,” he said. “We’re so proud of our rich heritage, and the role we play within our Target communities, which is why we’re so excited to reopen our Target store to the Cairns community.

“Target first came to Cairns in 1997, and we’re so pleased that the decision was made to stay by the Kmart Group, allowing us to remain a part of the Cairns community. We’re really looking forward to continuing our 24-year history in Cairns by reconnecting with our customers and delivering on our brand promise of inspiring families to live better.
“This is such an exciting time for the Target business as we get back to what we’re famous for; affordable real quality products that stand up to the test of everyday life. The opening of our Cairns store is such an important step not only in our Target journey, but for our long history in Cairns and we can’t wait to welcome our customers back in with open arms.”

Store manager Matthew Sumara said preparations for the store opening began in August. “I feel incredibly proud to be involved in the transformation of this store, which will showcase Target’s versatile product offering that’s focused on real quality products at affordable prices,” he said.

The Target Cairns team has hired more than 90 team members from the local community, including the store management team, with five team members transferring from Target Earlville.

“We are thrilled to have employed 90 new team members into the Target family, which really reflects our investment in the local community, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work the team have put into this store already,” Matthew said. “We know that life is a little unusual at the moment, so being able to support our Cairns community with more products, more convenience and more choice, is amazing and something we’re really excited for.”

The new store will have an offering across all Target product categories. Click and Collect services will also be available, which includes the collection of orders from Catch.com.au as part of the retailer’s investment in providing more convenience and choice to their customers.
