What should you consider when choosing a makeup artist for your wedding day?
I believe when considering a make-up artist for your wedding day you should check out their work to see if their style is suited to you. It is usually a really good indication of a good make-up artist when they are recommended by other suppliers in the industry. Communication is also very important when building a relationship with your wedding make-up artist leading up to your wedding day.
What do you love about wedding makeup?
I love the effect make-up can have on a person’s overall style and attitude. I strive to enhance both with my work. I love to apply make-up for clients to make them look and feel the most amazing version of themselves. It is such a pleasure to make up a bride and her bridal party for their wedding day and to see their elated reactions when they see the finished look. Your wedding day is definitely the day you want to look your absolute best.
Is it important to coordinate dress colour and accessories with makeup?
It is important to coordinate your whole wedding day look with your dress, accessories, flowers, and make-up. You may not want to wear a bold red lip if your bouquet consists of pastel-coloured flowers, for example.
Do you take eye and skin colour into consideration?
I definitely take the client’s eye and skin colour into consideration when applying make-up – aiming to accentuate the eyes with certain shades and colour matching the foundation to your skin colour on the day (fake tanning is commonly used nowadays), and then blending it down to the décolletage. “Blending is everything”.
Do you feel a sense of satisfaction when people are happy with their final look?
There is definitely a sense of satisfaction when a client is happy with the final make-up look. Quite often the gratitude is followed up with a lovely thank you message.
What sets you apart from other makeup artists?
Perhaps my experience as a commercial make-up artist is a benefit, as I bring an editorial eye to every wedding I do. I’ve worked on countless advertisements, commercials, magazine covers, fashion editorials and runways. I use the same quality products I would use in a photo shoot for weddings; therefore, the bridal make-up will stay flawless for many hours. Another thing that sets me apart is that my services are fully mobile. I come to you with my kit and make you feel like a VIP.
