Publisher’s Note | Fourth Quarter 2020

This year has been filled with many unexpected surprises and the toll it has taken on everyone’s mental state has seen a lot of people wanting to start celebrating Christmas early, and let’s be honest, who can blame them! It’s important to focus on something positive in challenging times and the festive season and all its frivolity, coupled with the precious time spent with friends and loved ones is definitely something to look forward to, even if many of us will be catching up with family via video chat due to COVID. There are still many who will now be able to travel to visit each other since travel restrictions are slowly but surely lifting.

Our cover for our last edition of 2020 is graced with some of the vivacious MYER team at Cairns Central! After 23 years, MYER Cairns has been reborn and we are loving what’s in store. We can’t wait to share the redevelopment with you in this edition. But also, keep an eye on our social media platforms over the coming weeks as more elements spring to life in this significant development for our region. And don’t forget the famous MYER Giftorium for Christmas – it has a way of lifting everyone’s spirits with its magical creations – it is a MUST to check out!

2020 may have thrown a few curve balls at us, but one thing is for sure we are a resilient community with so much to offer the world and the forward bookings for our southern neighbours wanting to visit and those aboard is testament to the strength of our tourism industry and the phenomenal destination we are so lucky to call home. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to kick off our heels and enjoy some much needed downtime this Christmas and New Year, the year sure has been exhausting.
