Transcendental Meditation®
The Transcendental Meditation® Remedy For Isolation

The Transcendental Meditation® technique first made headlines in Australia when its founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, visited Australia in 1962, almost 60 years ago. At the time the Beatles famously learnt the TM technique and raved about its many benefits. Since that time tens of thousands of people have learnt TM, including many other celebrities. But the world leaders of the global movement are calling on Australians to take up the daily practice in a bid to combat the feeling of isolation that has been brought on by the impacts of the global pandemic and they say it is not just a practice for the rich and famous to bring inner peace, it is a technique available to everybody to learn and benefit from.

“Maharishi’s vision has always been to make TM readily available to everybody regardless of their socio economic status. COVID-19 has brought with it many challenges, not least of which are multiple lockdowns, travel restrictions, people unable to see loved ones for significant life events such as funerals, weddings and births. The unresolved grief for many is weighing heavy on them and we know through 40+ years of evidence based research that by adopting the daily practice of Transcendental Meditation® it not only reduces anxiety, regular practice of the technique gives a brighter, more positive state of mind and outlook on life,” said the national director of the Transcendental Meditation® organisation in Australia, Dr Tim Carr.

According to The Medical Journal of Australia, the sad reality is that anxiety and depression are rising rapidly during this pandemic.

“In the past 12 months alone, the increased incidence of depression and anxiety is being felt across the nation and there is a very real concern that if not addressed people will have long lasting mental health impacts.

“It is up to each and every one of us to check in on one another now more so than ever. But it is also true that we all need to take the time to check in on ourselves and give ourselves the time and space for self care. Daily meditation costs nothing to do once taught and it is something we can all do to protect our mind, body and soul from illness and that feeling of helplessness,” said Dr Tim Carr.

“Daily meditation is a very simple method that each and every one of us can do to keep ourselves supported and functioning at our best.

“The Transcendental Meditation® technique allows your mind to easily settle inward, until you experience the most silent and peaceful level of your own awareness. It is completely different to other meditation techniques as it involves no concentrating or focusing, no trying to empty the mind,” he said.

“Transcendental Meditation gives me an island of calm in the midst of so much turbulence.”
Sir Paul McCartney

“Meditation Has Changed My Life. Nothing has ever opened my eyes like Transcendental Meditation has. It makes me calm and happy, and, well, it gives me some peace and quiet in what’s a pretty chaotic life! The activity of being a husband, a father — those are roles, too, but underneath them is the spiritual centre that connects us all, and that’s what’s most important. In meditation, I can let go of everything. I’m not Hugh Jackman. I’m not a dad. I’m not a husband. I’m just dipping into that powerful source that creates everything. I take a little bath in it.”
Hugh Jackman

“It’s like a charger for your whole body.”
Jerry Seinfeld

“If this kind of result was observed for a new prescription drug, it would be a billion-dollar industry to make it available to everyone immediately.”
